Some WSOP Information for the 36th Annual WSOP
Here's a list of some more or less but not really random WSOP information:
- Players from over 45 different countries are playing in this year's WSOP event.
- The main event is the $10,000 buy-in NL Holdem tournament, but the WSOP actually consists of a total of 45 different tournaments.
- The space for the WSOP takes up over 60,000 square feet and over 200 poker tables.
- The WSOP this year is being held at the Rio Suites in Las Vegas. The event got so big that the former venue for it could no longer accommodate all the players.l
- The total prize pool is over $10 million this year, which is twice the size of last year's prize pool.
- Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson both won their 10th WSOP bracelets this year, making them the two biggest WSOP winners in the history of poker.
- Jennifer Tilly won the Ladies Event this year. She's been tied romantically with Phil "the Unabomber" Laak.
- Celebrities including Matt Damon, Edward Norton, Gabe Kaplan, and James Wood are all playing in the main event this year.
Just some fun, at a glance stuff about the WSOP that I thought folks might enjoy.
